It's kinda like a mixtape

Yesterday as I ran errands, rushing at every stop in an attempt to beat the asshole that is Charlotte rush hour traffic, I had one of those "best moments of my week," and I swear I actually felt my heart smile.
As I went to push the door open and walk out of one store, there was an elderly couple heading in. It was almost that awkward moment of Do I hold the door, but that would mean walking out before letting her walk in, and then I might look like a bitch, but I need to hold the door. I can't not hold the door, I'm Southern, for god's sake! This adorable woman and her husband were both at least eighty years old, she had a colorful cane and he a decked-out walker, and just seeing them out together made me so happy. I rushed out the door to hold it for her, and she looked me right in the eye and said, "Thank you so much, dear!" Her husband walked in right behind and he, too, stopped at the threshold, turned around and looked at me and said, "Why, thank ya, lady. You just have a Happy Valentine's Day now, ya hear?"
As I let the door go, I realized I'd been genuinely smiling the whole time and couldn't even help it. Sure, it wasn't "the impossible" for me to hold the door for them, but it was enough to jumpstart me into taking my teabag tag's advice to heart and realizing that helping others truly is the best way to help ourselves. {Well looky there, I was just a) somewhat serious, and b) a total sappy cliché. Guess the Day of Lurrrrve really got ahold of me!}

PrettyPrettyWhittyFace: Spank yew very much for my first ever Brady Band! This thing's already rockin' my face off and it's not even the weekend. But this doesn't mean I have to workout, right? You just got me this strip of magic as a beer-chugging, tailgating accessory, right right right?
K, glad we settled that.

Person who got my name in Erin & Megan's V-Day gift swap and then didn't feel it was important to actually participate: I'd be lying if I said I didn't for a split second consider linking your blog here and being a big ol' bitch about it, but then I remembered my mama raised me right and I don't pull that shit. Erin put a pretty lil' bandaid on everything and sent me the cutest Target gift card in the world and it made my happies come back :)  {Head on over here to see what I sent Cari!}
Love, Fun & Football
Valentine's Day lovin' from Glenn Coco: There will never be a day in my entire life that anything makes me happier than the combination of puppies and fresh, prettiful flowers.
Valentine's Day gifts to myself: Just color me nerdy, but I'm so ridiculously excited to dive into this pile this weekend and soak up lots of naaah-liiiidge.
And yes, I suffer from IBS.
And yes, it's ridiculously embarrassing and always inconvenient.
And YES, I'm gonna continue kicking its ass and eventually heal!

And I'm happy to announce to y'all that next Tuesday, February 19th, Jena, Sarah, Lauren and I are hosting a little one-time link-up!
We've so wittily titled it "Truth be told, I'm lion"...
I know, you're super impressed, right?! Basically it's just a fun "Two Truths & A Lie" deal and you can do it any way you please! My post will be Two Truths & A Lie & Some Random Other Facts I Know You're Curious About." So, be cool and link up, mmmmkay!
Happy weekending!

To be clear, the headband works best for keeping your hair out of your face when taking a beer bong. NAAAT for workout purposes. Who does that stuff?

She didn't send you a gift!?!?!!?!? HOW ROOD! I wish I knew who it was, so if I am reading her blog, I can stop right this second!

I participated in a V-Day swap and didn't get my stuff either even though I sent her hers and she said she was over-nighting mine (more than a week ago)....... Sad day. :( I'll be your Valentine!

Don't you just love those sweet elders!

Seriously so rude! Just buck up and be honest and say you can't participate, that irritates me to no end! So sweet of Erin! I may have to send you a little present too and with a little something from Breanna

Gorgeous flowers and love that card!

OOOO I like this link-up idea! I also like puppies and flowers. I don't like the B who didn't send you a gift... and "B" does NOT stand for blogger.

Almost brought a tear to my eye imagining that sweet elderly couple. I know that had to make your heart smile! Love the band...so cute, and I've always wanted to try them, but I've had such crappy luck with others, that I wasn't sure if these were better. May have to try. :) And I hear ya about the swaps. I did one last year with flip flops, and my partner never sent mine. I sent her some cute ones, and I didn't get crap in return. No cool! Have a great weekend! :)

You are so sweet! Doesn't it just warm your heart seeing an older couple together and even more so when you're able to do something kind for them? This is why I read your blog, your true, honest, and kind. As for not getting a gift, I'm sorry you got a stinky person in the swap. I'd be more than happy to send you a gift if you'd like! Let me know!

So sorry that your swap partner didn't follow through, what a shame! :( I'm glad you got yourself some Target money in your back pocket though!

So sad to hear about your bad swap experience. I had that happen one time also, and was super bummed, so I know how you feel. I also wanted to let you know that I was recently diagnosed with IBS and would love to hear more about those books. Let me know if they are worth picking up. My doc said it would be a journey figuring it all out, and he was right. Happy Friday!
